BikeWalkRun-Athon By the Numbers

How can this work?
The
power of any ministry fundraising event lies in God's use of your
relationships to multiply blessings. People who know you and respect you
are excited to be part of a good cause that you're excited about and
committed to! Consider some of these figures and the impact they
represent to your campus ministry...
If an average participant gets $250 in sponsorships and you choose a 80%/20% share:

How can 1 participant get $250 in sponsorships?
Here's one way:
- Participant walking 5 miles
- Donor sponsors $10 per mile
- Total $50
- 5 Donors = $250
But not every donor can give $50.
That's
true. The participant may be able to enlist 10 donors who will give $25
each—or perhaps even 25 donors who will each give $10!
Who could provide support?
Remember,
the power of an event like this is in relationships and in the desire
of people who know and respect you to be a part of something you're a
part of. Most participants already know these people well; some of them
might be:
- Parents
- Grandparents
- Aunts & Uncles
- Brothers & sisters
- Other relatives
- Past teachers
- Professors
- Pastor, DCE/youth minister, or other churchworker
- Family friends
- Employers or former employers
- Neighbors
- Congregation members from home
- Mentors
- Friends
How can I recruit 20 participants?
The numbers add up: 15 students, 2 staff members, 3 volunteers...that's 20 participants!

Thanks to Lutheran Church Extension Fund and its NAILS Student Laborers for Christ program for supporting our 2010 BikeWalkRun-Athon!
NAILS is a simple idea. You sign up to work for a Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod
(LCMS) congregation or organization that is constructing its own
facilities. NAILS helps arrange living accommodations while you are
working on the construction project. You are paid minimum wage as an
employee of the congregation or organization constructing its
facilities.
